Acapella group with a local twist

A local acapella group, 1023 (Ten-Twenty-Three) was here at Kampong Gelam for a music video shoot. Passers-by and tourists were excited to see such multi-coloured costumes representing various races – Malay, Indian and Chinese. Unlike most of our artistes who try to emulate the West, this group of young artistes chose to be different. More of such approach should be taken by local artistes to show the vibrancy of our community and its originality.

1023’s music and style blend perfectly with the ambience of Kampong Gelam which has been attracting many foreign productions including some of the popular Korean drama series.
