Media Editor – Wanie Maz

Wanie Maz is our profile of the week. She is our young and shy, though quirky Media Editor at SultanGate.sg. One look at her and you might be deceived. Behind the reserved and awkward persona is a character thatʼs bursting with creativity and excitement. Wanie describes herself as one thatʼs jovial and hyped. However, she is not quick to reveal herself in a new or less familiar environment and may take some time to warm up.

Each and every day, Wanie finds her attention drawn, more and more, to the multi-cultural and colourful facade that the Sultan Gate area has to offer, apart from the miscellany of shophouses that attracts most tourists. With a micro four third lense and camera in hand, she holds it as a weapon to capture her sightings. Wanie also regards her works as a way to spread her message to the world to appreciate the beauty thatʼs everywhere. She finds much sentiments etched to this place of Ramadhan since young and other celebratory moments with family and friends. Wanie admits that, having travelled the world to places like Korea, for example, no other place can feel like home as much as Sultan Gate. The warmth of the people and diversity in the crowd will show you the true harmony and hospitality Singapore has to offer.

Wanie hopes that in time to come, more young Singaporeans and future settlers are able to keep the Sultan Gate spirits alive and appreciate the deep-rooted culture thatʼs been planted here. She also believes that the younger generation can help the legacy of the diverse society here live on through the food, music and the arts.
